There are quite a few people and animals living on the “Happy Friends Farm” but, of all those, Shirlee Barnz is the most special girl.

The youngest of two children in the Barnz family. There are Miro and Sandra, who own and manage the farm, Shirlee's older brother Toni Barnz, and Shirlee. On the day she was born, Miro wrote a special welcome song just for her.

From the moment Shirlee started walking, she was always running, Playing in the yard with her friends, the animals, especially Luci Woolson the sheep who took it upon herself to care for young Shirlee and is always close to the girl, playing with her and keeping a close watch in case the girl's diapers needed changing, or she falls and needs a warm hug. If Shirlee gets a little dirty and needs to be washed or, if she desires a snack, Luci is always there for her. It came as no surprise, when Luci had her little lamb, he immediately became Shirlee's favorite animal and best friend.We always knew Shirlee is a different child, she has an amazing imagination and makes up stories of a wonderful world, full of magical things. We all call it “Shirlee's world”. Shirlee even made up her own language and speaks to herself for hours at a time, we all want to join in that game but no one but Shirlee is allowed to speak it.

Sometimes, when you talk to Shirlee, she doesn't even seem to listen, or notice you are even there but, if you do it with a song, like magic, you will have her full attention and she will even give you answers by singing them back at you.Shirlee also really loves to swing. Miro had built her a special set of swings in the back yard and She spends hours swinging up and down, faster and faster and laughing so loud...after she swings, we all noticed, it is much easier to talk to Shirlee and she seems to be happier than before she had started. Swinging and music is really the way to go at it if you want to play with Shirlee or even talk to her at all.Shirlee goes to the same school as Toni and studies in a class for special children. Every day her best friend, the little lamb, walks to school with her and waits outside, in the school's yard where there is plenty of fresh grass for him to eat, until the school day is over and Shirlee is ready for the trip back home. They always find new adventures on the way.Sometimes they discover a beautiful new flower that blossomed on one of Miss Treehouse's rose bushes. Miss Treehouse is a neighbor and good friend to “The Happy Friends Farm.” Sometimes miss Treehouse comes out and gives them a chocolate treat.

Other times they find an interesting rock, shaped like an animal that they never noticed before. On warm days, Shirlee and the lamb, accompanied by Sandra who always walks with them, will go down by the little stream running next to the road and will play a little before Sandra tells them it's time to go on.After school, when Shirlee gets home she usually has a teacher come and give her special lessons. Then it's time for homework and out to the yard, to play, swing, sing and dance with the lamb and sometimes Miro and Toni too! In the evenings, Shirlee loves taking long baths, where she loves to make up new songs. Many times Miro brings his guitar into the bathroom and together they make up such wonderful songs, and sometimes they just play around, Shirlee splashing water on Miro, playing with her rubber ducky and they laugh and laugh...then it's time for bed and a good night song and... the wonderful amazing dreams Shirlee has every night. Sometimes she tells us about these dreams and sometimes she doesn't, keeping her amazing, imagination world to herself, her little secret.
